August 2008

Mark Timbrook, City of Columbus Sewer Systems Engineer for this project, writes:
The contractor marked each tree with a white ‘ X ‘ this morning (August 4).  We noted that several trees appeared diseased.  One tree that we would like to take another look at with Jack Low [Park and Recreation forester] is the 22″ Sycamore in the grassed triangle at Glenmont Place and Canyon Drive North.  We will consider saving this tree unless Jack Low views it as a risk.
Location of these trees:
601 Yaronia (easement area, on road edge) 2
Glenmont Place and Canyon Drive (triangular easement plot) 1  MAY NOT NEED TO BE REMOVED
354 Canyon Drive N (easement area, on road edge) 2
640 Yaronia Drive S, at intersection of Yaronia Drive South and Yaronia Drive N (the ash tree between the road and no outlet signs, on road edge) 1
599 Glenmont easement, 3
579 Glenmont (easement) 2

NEW RAIN GARDEN INSTALLED AT CUNNINGHAM HOME – 8/2/08
Greg Cunningham invites neighbors to walk by to see his rain garden! It was fun meeting new neighbors last Saturday. Jim Roberts, Watershed Organic Lawn Care, talked with us about how he installed this rain garden. Jim and landscape designer Amy Dutt are working together on 4 different rain garden models so those interested in a rain garden have a selection of styles and costs.
