Lisa Fosco, Animal Care Director, Ohio Wildlife Center
Just over a month ago, I released 2 juvenile albino Eastern Gray Squirrels from my property on Overbrook. They were brought to us (at the wildlife center) as newborns from a yard on Glenmont. They had been badly injured by neighborhood cats (both had fractured skulls and were torn up pretty good). I opted not to return them to their nest site since there are obviously outdoor cats that like to hunt at that location. I saw them both the morning after they were released, in addition to their cagemate that has snow-white hind feet, but never saw them again. I was hoping that they made it and since their coloration makes them easy to spot, I thought I would ask. Due to the timing, it sounds like one of them established herself at Canyon and Overbrook. I hope for the best for all of my patients, and appreciate the update.
